Based on the lives of several successful women entrepreneurs (most notably inventor and cable television product sales mogul Joy Mangano), the film follows the misadventures, exploits and accomplishments of a composite character simply named Joy (Jennifer Lawrence). When viewers first meet the film’s heroine, she lives a harried and frustrating life. As the divorced mother of two, she works a thankless job as an airline ticket counter agent, barely eking out a living to support her largely dysfunctional family.

If you knew for certain that the world was going to end in three weeks, how would you spend your time? Wrapping up the loose ends of your life? Making amends with those you’ve wronged (and who have wronged you)? Those are all questions raised in the thought-provoking new comedy, “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.”

Preconceived notions shattered in ‘The Intouchables’
by Brent Marchant June 8, 2012There’s this thing we call life that we all go through together. Yet, despite its inherent connectedness, sadly, we often fail to see or appreciate this attribute. We tend to look upon ourselves and everything in our existence as separate components loosely linked by certain limited degrees of commonality. And so, when some kind of manifestation arises made up of elements – people, places, things, etc. – that don’t seem to belong together, we find it even more inscrutable, failing to sense the intrinsic validity or value in it.

READ: Why is Love so Painful? by Pragito Dove
by Pragito Dove March 29, 2012Love is painful because it creates the way for joy, for ecstasy, for bliss. Love is painful because it transforms you. Love is growth.
Love itself does not hurt. It is growth that hurts, the ego that stings.
Each transformation is painful because the old situation is being left behind for the new. Hence, fear arises.

Want to Feel Better? Be a Five-Year-Old
by VividLife Editorial September 15, 2011When was the last time you played like a five-year-old?
If it was when you actually were five years old, then this is an emergency. Go get a box of crayons, stat!
I have the luxury of enjoying the company of a five-year-old regularly. My niece, Emmy, is currently teaching me about living joyfully. She’s reminding me of all the things I forgot from my five-year-old days, and I have to say, I think these are really the essentials a person needs in life.

Flamboyant Change
by Jacquelyn September 10, 2011I can promise you that there’s something very freeing about cutting off all of your hair but I know it’s not for everyone. This was my way of expressing inner change. I invite you look deeply and see what changes you are ready to make then, honor them in your own way. Write them down, even if it’s only for you to see. Get rid of clutter that you don’t need. Wear a colour the old you would never wear.

Live a Life of Abundance
by Jacquelyn June 18, 2011Abundance means plentifulness and implies that there’s enough for everyone. Enough of whatever you want; love, success, happiness, wealth, peace, joy and anything else you dream of. So how do we manifest this abundance in our own lives?
