Despite the film’s seemingly lightweight story line, “Ruby Sparks” is anything but frothy fluff; rather, it’s a thoughtful meditation on conscious creation practice. Through Calvin’s exploits, we see that conscious creation is an all-inclusive process that carries with it tremendously potent power.

There’s this thing we call life that we all go through together. Yet, despite its inherent connectedness, sadly, we often fail to see or appreciate this attribute. We tend to look upon ourselves and everything in our existence as separate components loosely linked by certain limited degrees of commonality. And so, when some kind of manifestation arises made up of elements – people, places, things, etc. – that don’t seem to belong together, we find it even more inscrutable, failing to sense the intrinsic validity or value in it.

Challenging assumptions related to our spiritual beliefs can be daunting, to be sure. We often consider such truths as unquestionable givens. Yet there are times when we think we know what we want when, in fact, we don’t. And, when circumstances arise that put such issues to the test, we’re often ill-equipped to handle them. When matters of head and heart, intellect and intuition, thought and feeling, don’t match up in spiritual matters, the result is often a crisis of faith.

Love is painful because it creates the way for joy, for ecstasy, for bliss. Love is painful because it transforms you. Love is growth.

Love itself does not hurt. It is growth that hurts, the ego that stings.

Each transformation is painful because the old situation is being left behind for the new. Hence, fear arises.

“In the world today people are saying to themselves, that we have had enough of the old paradigms and the old systems and we want to change. We don’t know what we want to change, we don’t know how to change but we want to change and that clarity creates a power that has a very real and powerful effect in the world. It changes what most people thought a few years ago was quite impossible to change and that is not even through conscious spiritual work, that is just through the intention being so strong that it changes and pushes away the old paradigms so that there is the possibility and the space that allows the birth of something new.

“Become aware of your heart. Let go. Let go by deeply breathing out. Center yourself by breathing in fully. Breathe into the belly. Breathe into every cell of your being.…

A good starting point for our state of mind to understand Peace – a state of mind that is often used to the turmoil and chaos that we are faced with, through the infliction of pain and suffering that we perceive as agitating the serenity of our essence – is to remember to nourish the body by not inflicting this turmoil and chaos onto it.
