We’ve all undoubtedly had days where we’ve found our heads spinning, overwhelmed by the complexities before us. It’s enough to make us crazy. It’s also enough to get us to ask ourselves. “Why me?” Such are the circumstances served up in the independent comedy, “Chinese Puzzle,” now available on video on-demand and scheduled for release on Blu-ray disk next week.

Two documentaries examine the present nature of life’s essentials
by Brent Marchant October 3, 2014Our everyday existence has many components that we consider essential for our personal growth, if not our very survival. ‘The Great Beauty’ urges us to look at our lives
by Brent Marchant April 18, 2014Taking stock of where we stand in our lives can be a very rewarding – and revelatory – experience. Sometimes we affirm what we already know, but, in other instances, we come to conclusions that come as surprising, if not shocking or perhaps even disillusioning. Critical thinking is one of those undertakings many of us are encouraged to pursue from an early age. We’re frequently urged to do so in an educational context, but its applicability extends to virtually every aspect of daily life. Of course, to make best use of this skill, we must employ it judiciously, taking into account related considerations that impact its effectiveness, for failing to do so can have serious, far-reaching consequences. Those are some of the themes capably explored in the historical biography, “Hannah Arendt,” now available on DVD and Blu-ray disk.
