“A loving person lives in a loving world. A hostile person lives in a hostile world; everyone you meet is your mirror.”
— Ken S. Keyes jr.
The other year I thought I would brave the wild crowds on Boxing Day to score some great deals for myself and my daughter. In the past, I have not always wanted to face people on this crazy day because I always seemed to run into the grumpiest shoppers in the crowd.
This time, I decided to take on a new attitude, not be in a rush, and just enjoy the time out with my daughter. Much to my surprise, everyone that I dealt with was very nice, helpful, and polite. I had some women asking my advice on fashion choices while we were waiting in line to pay for our bargains. I had others tell me about great deals I had to get to for my daughter. What a different world I was in this year!
Or, what a different person I was that day. How true the expression “like attracts like” applies to even a day of shopping. If you find yourself in the company of someone you don’t like, you may need to take a look at this “mirror” in front of you to see what it is they are trying to show you about yourself. The good side of this trick is that it works for the things you like about people too.
