Your Appearance + Your Actions + Your Attitude = Your IMAGE
Everyday we tell the world a great deal about who we are based on our appearance. Our clothes and body language are seen as clues to our character and personality. If you present yourself as a confident, assertive, capable person, others will respond accordingly. How much confidence you appear to have is determined from the 3 V’s; visual, vocal and verbal image.
Albert Mehrabian noted in his famous study that the impression you make on others comprises:
* 55% Visual Presentation-dress, grooming, body language, facial expressions
* 38% Tone of Voice- the way in which things are said (the perceived meaning behind the words.)
* 7% What is said-the words we use.
(As noted in “The Polished Professional”, by Ann Reinten)
Everyone has an image, but is your self-image perceived as a positive one? Do you look, feel and act confident? Once you realize how others perceive you, you can modify the way you look, act and sound to ensure you achieve the results you desire.
Shhh…listen. Your clothes are talking. What are they saying about you?
Clothes are powerful universal elements of non-verbal communication that say many things about who you are, what you are like, where you have come from and where you are going. Consider the following; by (Ann Reinten of the Australian Image Company) when deciding how you want others to perceive you.
Clothes have a direct effect on how we:
* Feel, think, act and how others will feel, think and act toward us.
Rightly or wrongly, clothes form the basis from which the wearer is judged on:
* Level of Self-Esteem
* Social & Financial Status
* Level of style and/or fashion sense
* Moral & Social, Values
* Trustworthiness, Honesty, and so on.
Other important visual clues about the wearer come from:
* Facial Expressions
From these impressions we make decisions if we:
* Like them, trust them, want to be friends with or do business with.
Clothes are symbols that assume different meanings depending on:
* Where they are worn
* When they are worn
* How they are worn
* What condition they are in
* Who wears them
Appropriate to the situation, circumstances, climate, people in attendance, our physical appearance and job at hand. Enhancing to who we are as a person; both the physical person and our character.
Goal effective to what we want to achieve.
Get smart and tailor your wardrobe to reflect your personal style. Every woman feels confident when she dresses in a manner that is true to her inner self. A great visual image increases self-esteem and confidence; when you know you look great you walk, talk and think differently.
