Desire is the beginning of all new Creation. — Abraham
Set Yourself UP for a Healthy Life
Everyone deserves good health. It is your birthright. Your body is a miracle and strives to be its healthiest with the materials it is given. What we put into and onto our bodies play a key role in our overall health.
Do you desire to be exceptionally healthy? Do you desire to have the energy needed to play out an active day? Do you desire to be a competitive athlete? Do you desire to be disease free? Do you desire to travel? Do you desire to play with your grandchildren? Pretend you are sitting in a vehicle…there must be a destination otherwise you will go nowhere (desire), and without gas (nutrition), the vehicle will not go anywhere.
Health will mean different things to different people. The first step is to desire good health. Start now…stand up tall and read on. Come on…humour me…stand up!
As the quote says ‘Desire is the beginning of all new Creation.’ The next step is to dream it. Take time (hours and even days) to visualize what you desire for your health and accept the fact that this might change over time as change is the only constant. Visualize all the things health means to you today. Pretend that there are no barriers, like money and time. I like to visualize a day and a brief description of what one of my healthy days might look like is this…
‘I wake up bursting with energy and excited about life. Once I have my lemon water, I practice my yoga. I put on my work out clothes and go for a 5 km run around the neighbourhood. The sun is shinning and birds are chirping. After my run, I do a workout which includes my favourite, lunges. Feeling great afterwards, I prepare and consume a fruit smoothie high in antioxidants and protein, while I read my book and relax. I pack for a hike which is with a good friend. The forest trail provides much fresh air and at the lake I take a swim to refresh and get grounded. Before dinner, I walk through the garden to pick greens for a large salad I eat outside in the backyard. The evening is relaxing as I read and watch the sunset. I fall sound asleep for several hours until the next morning.’
Use all senses while visualizing it. Smells, tastes, colours, sounds, textures, feelings can be interjection into the dream. How do you feel after your healthy day?
Creating a healthier you is to understand it is a process, a series of steps along the way to creating your healthy lifestyle. There will be days with unpleasant news…we still partake in reality. Let’s review lifestyle.
Lifestyle is what you do most of the time. It does mean you can indulge but there are better ways to indulge. For instance, choose to indulge one day a week. With your current knowledge in nutrition, select healthier choices. If I were to make a hamburger, I would use organic beef. I would choose my toppings to be lettuce/greens, whole seed mustard, tomato instead of ketchup, splash of organic naturally fermented soy sauce and all on a whole wheat bun. Most foods and meals can be made healthier!
Along the way, yummy desserts can be enjoyed. There are healthier choices. My favourite is a Chocolate Pudding made with avocado, dates, orange juice and carob/cacao.
Along my healthier journey, I found myself craving less of the unhealthy foods. I still have ice cream and decadent desserts once in awhile, mostly when I am a guest. This is ok. No guilt.
Desire and dream a healthier you while enjoying desserts along the way!!
