Arrive in Inverness (capitol of the highlands) for a day where we’ll stay at the Strathness Guest House just minutes away from shopping and restaurants. Have the day to explore the surroundings and take in all the highlands have to offer. We’ll enjoy an evening of spirits, craft beer and song at the iconic MacGregor’s Bar where we’ll dine and indulge in the local history of the highlands.
Follow us through the enchanting Glen Affric woods by horseback as we indulge in the legend of the haunting moorland of Loch Ness. Take in the glistening magical waters and enchanting folk lore as we ride through the largest and most ancient Caledonian Pine woods of Scotland.
Travelling north to Caithness we’ll stop by the Falls of Shin and perhaps witness the beauty of Salmon jumping up the spring – a breath taking view of new life and celebrating the art of letting go. We’ll stop again in Dornoch, home of the Dornoch castle – rumoured to be haunted by the ghost of Andrew McCornish who was hanged for sheep stealing!
Experience two nights stay in a glamping pod or a farmhouse surrounded by lush greens and bothies – bothies are primitive shelters designed in remote parts of land for hikers, travellers and anyone passing through to use at their convenience. An authentic experience for those wishing to stay in one, or just to admire from the comfort of our newly built glamping pods or the farmhouse accommodation nearby.
Stay with a local family on their farm to experience all the highlands have to offer for the simple life. A day of partaking in the farming lifestyle with a beautiful meal, song and stories with the family around the table. Sure to be an experience not to be forgotten.
We’ll travel from there to Northern Scotland via ferry to the Isle of Lewis where we’ll visit the Smoo Cave – a natural cave formed by the sea with moss covered rock and walls and a deep history. The perfect place to snap photos and witness the beauty of natures creation. We’ll also visit the historical fishing village of Ullapool – well known for it’s music festivals and rich local culture.
Stay with us in the picturesque authentic Scottish Highlands blackhouses. One of the most revered experiences in Scotland not to be missed for it’s stunning views, thatched rooves and cottage living lifestyle. Nearby beaches and culture will only serve to enhance this hobbit like village experience.
At the Isle of Lewis we’ll explore the magical Standing Stones of Calanais – world famous for the spiritual feeling they invoke to it’s visitors erected by the Neolithic people. Perhaps travel back in time as you place your hands on the stones and breathe in the Atlantic sea air.
Tour Harris while travelling south along the western coastline taking in the sights and sounds of the land. We’ll arrive in Rodel to visit the St. Clements Church, home of Scotland’s most revered 16th century tomb of Alexander Macleod – chief of Clan Macleod. Northward bound we’ll visit the Luskentyre beach – white sands, crystal clear sea of crashing waves. Unplug and unwind as we walk along the shores of this spellbinding place voted 8th most beautiful beach in the world. We’ll have time to explore the town of Tarbet – a small fishing village boasting great local eats, a shell beach and delicious confections at local shops.
Travel the authentic Hogwarts express experience as we travel from the highest mountain in Britain – Ben Nevis to Arisaid by Jacobite Steam Train! We’ll pass by the deepest fresh water loch, Loch Morar and the shortest river, Morar before arriving at our destination by the deepest seawater Loch – Loch Nevis. The Jacobite Steam Trains were featured in the Harry Potter films! All aboard and prepare for magic and wonder – a memorable experience for Harry Potter fans as we witness the Glenfinnan viaduct seen in the films. Bring your cameras and your wands!
