I grew up Christian and was baptized in a Pentecostal Church. I still resonate with the teachings of Christ, however I don’t identify with a particular religion, but as always, I am looking to expand my perspective and look forward Oprah’s inspiring SuperSoul conversations.
Oprah Winfrey speaks with William Paul Young, New York Times bestselling author of “The Shack,” a faith-based story about a daughter who is abducted during a family vacation, to discuss his inspiration behind the book and how it has allowed people to see their relationship with God in a new way. Sexually abused as a child and sent to boarding school at age six, Paul remained deeply rooted in his faith and his passion for writing. “The Shack” was initially written as a Christmas gift to his children on the train commuting to one of his three jobs with no intention of publishing it. The book’s success led to a motion picture that opened in nearly three thousand theaters. Paul shares with Oprah that the biggest gift “The Shack” has given him is an invitation to hear other people’s stories. Oprah also talks to Paul about his thought provoking and controversial new book, “Lies We Believe About God.”
