There is so much more to raising our awareness than just being able to use a pendulum or read a tarot deck of cards. Each time we manage to raise our vibration we become more in tune with the world around us and the spiritual realm as well. Our life here on earth is a journey of discovery in all areas of life. Every challenge has a meaning perhaps a pattern that needs to be examined in order to stop it from repeating, every triumph a stepping-stone for a new adventure. From the time we are born until we leave this earthly plane we are to explore, experiment, and experience life. Most importantly, this includes discovering our Higher Self.
Spiritual Growth could be defined as connection with our Higher Self and to a Higher Power within and without. Meditation is the way to bridge this seemly great divide. Guided meditation performed in a group setting like this is wonderful as we can use each other’s energy, share our experiences and discuss matters of the heart in a non-judgmental environment. Using a chant or mantra is a more personal method, as we tend to go even deeper inside when we do this. Of course, chanting in a group produces an amazing physical vibration, which in itself can assist us in raising our own spiritual vibration.
The sound OM is believed to contain every vibration that ever existed and will ever exist thus making it the spoken essence of the Universe. It is considered the white light of sound (white light actually containing all colours). When used in meditation we are asking for this connection. An example of this is in Primordial meditation, where three sounds are used: OM (All of the Universe) Bija (Self- your personal mantra) NaMah (reflecting back on self). When these are said together you are sending out the request to the Universe that you wish to look back in reflection and connect your Higher Self to All that Is/ Divine/ Universe.
We need to remember that everyday holds something to be grateful for, something to be learned and shared with others, and an opportunity to be kind to someone, including ourselves. By connecting with the Divine through love, compassion and understanding, we will be able to love and nurture ourselves more and then be able to connect in a more meaningful way to those around us. The wonderful thing about Spiritual growth is we can never get enough as it is always expanding. The more positive we are and in control of our thoughts, the more positive energy will be attracted to us. If things do not seem to be going so well, we need to stop and reflect on just how our thought process is working at this time. Perhaps we have not taken time to be one with OM and in the process the connection has been dropped and we no longer are able to hear messages or guidance. This of course, can quickly be changed. By allowing positive energy to flow freely through us we will notice it coming back to us.
As we continue on our path, we may need to remind ourselves that not everyone is at the same point in his or her personal awareness. When it comes down to it, life is a road we travel alone – each of us experiences life in our own way, time and level of awareness. Since messages come to us through our intuition and feelings, it is important to strengthen this connection. We will then experience increasing insights, revelations and expanded awareness.
In order to “know ourselves” we need to be aware of our own energy and that of the energy around us. Much like we do physical exercises to strengthen our bodies, so too will psychic exercises strengthen our awareness. As we mentioned before, everyone has psychic abilities and all have intuition. Over time we have either become lazy and not even tried to develop them or we have been told it is wrong to use them. I believe there are people who are gifted in their ability to use this sense for the higher good, as they are open to receive and interpret any information that is sent to them. Remember it is one thing to recognize the energy or sense something but caution needs to be present when you are interpreting this information, especially to others. We need to learn to let our ego go and not analyze what it is we are experiencing. Once on this journey we will find ourselves always seeking more and challenging ourselves to go even further.
