We had an amazing show this past Saturday with intuitive counselor and spiritual teacher Dr. Jenn Royster.
Jenn showed us how we can recognize when our children have intuitive abilities and how we can support and guide them with this knowledge.
“More and more, children are born with advanced intuitive skills and they need parents and other adults in their lives that can help them with their gifts,” Jenn says.
Do you believe (or know) that you have an intuitive child? Here are some of the signs that may help you to discover whether your child has these special skills and what you can do for your child.
1. Constant crying: Your child seems to cry even for matters that seem trivial or unimportant. This is often a sign that your child is taking in more than he or she can handle at the moment. Let the storm pass: your child needs to let out his or her emotions. Let him or her cry it out if necessary and encourage discussion about his or her emotions.
2. Finishing others’ sentences: (or starting them) When a child does this, it is a way of seeing into the immediate future. Your child may be very proud of this gift, but you will want to make sure that he or she allows others to express themselves fully. This way he or she will learn how to respect others’ feelings as well.
3. Being extra fearful: This can come on during the day or at night. Your child may even say things about a deceased loved one and be afraid that they are additionally vulnerable because of it. Be extra gentle and patient with your child during these times. Acknowledge their feelings. Let them know they are safe and have them create an invisible protective bubble around themselves. Encourage your child to get involved with activities such as drawing, playing card games where they guess what cards you are holding, or the “try calling me with your mind when you need me” exercise.
Remember, although your child may have special gifts, you as the parent need to be the benevolent leader. Do not expect that your child will become your therapist. This will help your child feel safe AND keep you sane!
