VividLife Radio’s Ed and Deb Shapiro welcome pioneering businessman Sridhar Silberfein, to discuss Yoga’s Answer to Woodstock Festival: Bhaktifest
Sridhar Steven Silberfein has been on a spiritual quest for over thirty years, while being a pioneering businessman. He
founded Desert Essence, the skin care company, and co-founded the Triloka recording label that launched artists such as Krishna Das and Jai Uttal. His health food store, The Food Chakra, had a yoga studio upstairs. This led to The Center for Spiritual Studies (CSS), where Sridhar hosted many eminent teachers, such as Swami Muktananda, Kalu Rimpoche and Ammachi, the “Hugging Saint”. He published the first book on Swami Muktananda called Baba in America. He also produced the docudrama River of Love on the life of Ammachi. In 1969, Sridhar brought Swami Satchidananda to Woodstock, when he committed himself to producing the spiritual equivalent of Woodstock, which is now: Bhakti Fest, Shakti Fest, and Bhakti Fest Midwest. When asked about the moments where he feels his best, he has been known to comment, “When I get a chance to clean the pots in the kitchen.” bhaktifest.com
As the great Zen master Alan Watts said: “We all need to go out of our minds at least once a day!” Going Out Of Your Mind with Ed and Deb Shapiro is a chance for you to drop your analyzing and intellectual mind and come into the immediate experience of present awakening. We are irreverent spiritual teachers and don’t take ourselves too seriously so our discussion show has a great sense of humor while also exploring in depth what it means to live with integrity, awareness, kindness, compassion, and humility. We will be talking with some of the most luminous women and men about how their lives reflect that luminosity, how they relate to the trials and tribulations of ordinary life, and how this can be of benefit to you. They are people from all walks of life: scientists, actors, activists, musicians, comedians, and business leaders – people whose lives you would never have guessed were rooted in meditation and freedom. edanddebshapiro.com
