International lifestyle coach Johnnie Cass shares his top ten tips for managing your money and building wealth.
Believe in abundance:
We live in an abundant world there is always more than enough. Stop reading the crappy newspapers and start to believe in abundance and wealth again. Some of the greatest fortunes ever made were made during the most difficult of financial times. Get smart and get creative.
Work hard loving what you do:
It goes without saying; wealth is not just about the money. Wealth is finding that thing that you love and working damn hard to make it financially viable. Money isn’t going to come to you by meditating for it. I don’t know of anyone that has had a bag of money fall on there head by meditating. (If you do please send them my way, Id like to meet them). Wealth comes to you when you find that thing that you would do for free and your willing to work for it until it pays off!!
Stop spending more than you earn.
If you keep spending your money trying to look rich you will never actually become rich. Our parents did it, and our grandparents did it – they never spent more than they earnt. Why? Because there was no such thing as credit cards back then (ok I’m giving my age away). But you get the idea stop trying to impress people who you don’t know and don’t really like. That Gucci man bag aint going to put food on your plate. Save, Save, Save!!
Have a financial plan:
I know its not sexy but then again neither is living in a geriatric hospital with no money, no friends, and no one to , and that’s where you will end up if you don’t have a financial plan.
Hoping that the universe will provide, will give you just enough to get by, if you really want to live you need to have a financial plan. Lets cut to the chase. We live in a material world and whether you like it or not money makes the world go round. You can either get in on the action or sit on the sidelines. In any case the money has to go someplace, and it will go to those who make a plan.
Using G.U.T instinct – its all about numbers:
Most people I know that use G.U.T (Gave Up Thinking) instinct when it comes to financial decisions very rarely build long-term wealth they are simply gambling. When it comes to financial decisions ALWAYS do your homework. G.U.T. instinct will get you into trouble (when it comes to picking your BF or GF that’s another story). If you don’t understand the numbers either don’t proceed or find someone you trust to go through the numbers with you.
Use your time wisely:
Most people think that money is there biggest asset. Its not! Time is your biggest asset. Use it wisely.
Your goal is to make as much money with the time you have available to you. Most people are interested in tension reliving activities rather then results producing activities. If you want to be wealthy you need to manage your time. When you’re managing your time your reducing stress and ultimately managing your life.
True wealth comes from the small things in life:
I have been very fortunate to travel the globe and spend time with some very, very wealthy people. Let me tell you some of them are miserable and some of them are lovely.
Money gives you choices that’s it! True wealth comes from the small things in life. Good health, meaningful work, loving relationships, a laughter from a child. All these things can be accomplished with relatively little amounts of money. Please don’t get me wrong if you want to buy a sports car then go for it But keep it all in perspective. In some of the poorer countries in the world people live on less than £1 per day (and they still manage to find happiness).
If you want to be wealthy you can be.
How do we know you can be wealthy? Because we have seen so many other people make money. If Katie Price (AKA Jordan) can make money then you most definitely can. Building wealth is no accident but it can be done. You don’t have to be a banker; you don’t have to something that you hate. You need to work hard and work smart.
Dream Big
Most people live lives of quiet desperation rather than inspiration. Be willing to dream big. Your life is going to go by regardless of whether you’re dreaming big or not dreaming at all. Most people give up on their dreams because they are afraid of failing. We are all afraid. The only question is will you act in spite of the fear??
Decide what really matters to you:
When it’s all said and done the only thing you will ask yourself is “ Did I live? Did I love? and did I do the things that mattered to me?” It’s your life baby; decide how you want to use it up.
Define what success is for you
I am not here to tell you to go out there and be a millionaire. I’m also not here to tell you to smoke a joint and “peace out man”. Its your movie, define what you want from life and go and forge you own path. Be courageous and accept the fact your going to get it horribly wrong at times. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and keep going. That’s how it rolls around here.
