Mon Jun 8 2pm – 3pm HOST Rose-Anne Kumpunen Guests: Marlene Marco & Yvette Maxwell
More than 60 percent of Canada’s 800,000 women entrepreneurs are “lifestylers” – business owners who choose self employment to create balance in work and family commitments. Often, though, self-employment is lonely and isolating, and brings a host of unforeseen challenges that prevent the dream from being fulfilled. Tina Dezsi and Lia Bandola, along with 20 other businesswomen, inspire and encourage women everywhere to follow the dream in their just released book “The Power of Women United” (The Ultimate Publishing House: 2009). The authors will officially launch the book, Wed, June 17 at McNally Robinson in Toronto, uniting more than 500 women entrepreneurs at an evening event that features business networking, an inspiring author presentation, and book signing. A collection of 22 personal stories, the contributing authors understand how personal obstacles interfere with success, and share strategies, advice, support and encouragement for women everywhere to find strength in numbers and reciprocate support.
Marlene Marco bio:
As National Director of Training & Development with Power Of Women Exchange, I create opportunities for business and professional women to connect, build relationships and increase their business through partnering, alliances and referrals
As Chapter Director at Durham West, it is my pleasure to be associated with this dynamic group of women. My entire career has been centered around helping women to feel good about themselves and build success in their own way.
Through my experience as an award winning fashion consultant since the mid eighties, I have built incredible business relationships and wonderful clientele! In my previous company, I held the position of Senior Sales Manager and had the privilege of coaching and mentoring dozens of successful business owners.
A change of career in 2008 has led me to an alternate communications network. My background in sales and networking is serving me well as I, once again, am able to coach and mentor others to success.
Contributing the chapter “Suited for Success” in The Power Of Women United, has been a real pleasure for me. I’ve become a student of image and the impact it has on all communication & interaction in our daily lives. I am extremely fortunate to have incredible mentors both personally & professionally and I know the value that brings to one’s life. It is my goal to pay that value forward & help others in the same way.
On a personal note…my wonderful son Zack, daughter in law Tami and my two beautiful grandchildren, Brad and his little sister Elise live in Ajax. Spending time with family is very precious to me.
My partner, Trevor is my cheerleader, supporter and friend! We love to cycle, travel, entertain, spend time with friends….make the most of every new day!!!
I am blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life!
