Action and reaction, ebb and flow, trial and error, change – this is the rhythm of living. Out of our over-confidence, fear; out of our fear, clearer vision, fresh hope. And out of hope, progress. ~ Bruce Barton
Pooh, 3 minutes can be a long time. I have finished the first week of my kundalini yoga challenge. The 4 different U shapes exercises. Just to keep myself focused on doing the exercises every day was something to get into. It was really funny at first, because I was really keen to get started. Did put it out there, this is a good experiment for this coach. The sense of getting homework and the feeling to commit was very strong. The first few days, the phone would go, the dog would refuse to move of my yoga mat, then I couldn’t find the magazine with the pictures of the positions. Amazing the way we can block ourselves.
By day 3, I got myself into a rhythm. The dog was still not happy with me doing the exercises everyday, but that is okay. She would move off my mat, at least. There is probably a lot of energy being shifted in the beginning. I found a timer to make sure that I would hold the positions at least 3 minutes. It is really hard, my legs and my hips are very painful. At the moment it is really just the case that I need to concentrate during the positions. This gives me no time to think. After that I have a break for about a minute. Tjee, how many thoughts can a person have in 1 minute? It is really bizarre, but it feels like some one has opened a tap with thoughts.
This is what we do all day long, isn’t? We think one thing and that brings us to another thing, which leads us to yet another subject. There is not really an order in how you get from A to B and some of the connections we’re making in our head make no sense at all. After being quite for 3 minutes, this is a lot of noise. We need to stop this, but I know that is easier said than done. The fact that we’re noticing what we are doing is step one. What I have introduced now is to have no judgement about this. Like the ocean just let it come and go. That brings me right back the peaceful silence that is there during the exercises.
It is interesting to feel the difference just by doing these exercises. This 30 minutes has now become a little bit of me time and it is great to start the day with some time to calm my mind and focus on what needs to be done. To start the day in a positive tone makes sure that the feeling “I’m already behind schedule” has disappeared completely. It is a great feeling, to start the day with a well rested mind. We’re giving a lot of our energy away to things that don’t need any energy at all. The negative feelings can grow during the day, because we feed these feelings and thoughts. But starting the day calmly and with a rested mind, it is so much easier to not feed this negative side.
To be honest, I’m not sure if this is all connected to the exercises. When we make a change in our lives, it seems that a lot of the things shift together with this change. So maybe, the fact that we change something for the good for ourselves, it always brings movement for the good. It has not brought me more energy yet, but on the other hand I’m not that tired either. It is still difficult to feel the difference, but it is just 7 days.
What was the week like for you? Lets start the second week!
Ps: to be totally honest with you,…………..I did miss one day……………..
