Today I saw an oriole
Its beauty touched my soul
The colours God had given it
A wonder to behold
The colours of the birds I see
Bright reds and yellows too
Makes me gasp each time I see
Their flight in skies so blue
The cardinals and blue jays
Blackbirds with crimson wings
Little wrens and sparrows too
With angel’s voice they sing
A gift so often overlooked
As life goes rushing by
As we miss the simple things
The masterpieces fly

Susan, you never cease to amaze me with your touching poetry. How lovely this is! Job well done…and thank you for sharing!
Susan you have captured the feelings of awe that people feel when they actually STOP and look and listen outdoors. Thank you for your way of expressing that.
thanks for letting us enjoy it….
Yesterday I watched a mama bird pulling out moss from around our waterfall, working hard and dilligently to provide a safe haven for her future brood.
