Sometimes it seems that drinking and partying go against the physical health and spiritual well being promoted by Yoga. Well I would like to argue that Yoga actually promotes partying (to a CERTAIN extent).
Yoga is meant to celebrate and be aware and connected with the perfection, bliss, power, happiness and peace in this present moment. Have you ever had that night out where you just notice how great everything feels: the music, your friends, the conversation, dancing, and laughing?
Yoga is not about letting everything fly out the window: its not about drinking until you throw up or lose control, or sleeping with every person in the bar or going crazy because we are unhappy with our work/love lives or being rude and starting fights. Yoga is not about just going to the bars cause thats just what we do, or because it is a habit.
Yoga is about being aware of how we TRULY want to experience the night and our lives. Yoga is taking responsibility of how we TRULY want to LIVE, LAUGH and LOVE.
“Know the deeper reason behind what you want, try to do everything in moderation, party to love ‘life’ and not escape it, respect your body and who you are. Party as if you were the buddha: a party of love, compassion, meaning, happiness, laughter, self-respect and bliss.”
Here is my affirmation/intention for partying night- feel free to make up your own- it can drastically change how you experience the night!
Yogic intention/affirmation for going out: “Tonight I am partying to celebrate the greatness of my life, my friends, to have fun, laugh, converse, dance and show gratitude for what I do have. I respect and love my body.”
