You have all heard the saying, “What goes around, comes around”. Some people think of this as ‘karma’ – that if you don’t do good deeds, your actions will come back to bite you in the ass! On the flip side, if you treat people with love and kindness, that is what you will get in return. For the holidays and long after, how about switching this perspective?
Instead, I am going to think in terms of, “What goes around, goes around….the love, kindness and compassion I demonstrate will spread – like wild fire!…and actually make the world a better place. A smile, a helping hand, even a positive intention to start my yoga practice, can actually manifest and spread love and joy exponentially! Quite a powerful idea isn’t it?
Not sure where to start? How about with a mantra for meditation. The mantra in the picture to the right loosely translates as “May all be happy, May all be free”. (For a more detailed description from Sharon Gannon -cofounder of Jivamukti Yoga, CLICK HERE.) This mantra reminds us that our own thoughts, words and actions can contribute to the happiness and freedom of all beings everywhere. What an honour (and great responsibility!) it is to have the ability to make the world a better place for one another.
So try altering your perspective to what goes around, goes around…and see what difference it makes in your life and the lives of others!
