We always have choices to make, and many outside influences affect our decision making. There’s the media. We listen to the news, and unfortunately, they seem to focus more on the “bad news” if it’s not sports or the weather. Then there’s television, which is full of all kinds of craziness as well as a lot of sales pitch commercials. The radio, most people listen to for the music, which can sometimes be degrading & depressing. Then the ever resourceful internet, good & bad at times, depending on what you’re searching for. No matter what you choose to watch, read or listen to, there are always opinions being formed. By yourself, or by others.
Then there’s work. This is where most of us spend the majority of our waking hours. We talk with our co-workers and our clients. Sharing pieces of our lives with each other as people give their feedback and opinions to one another. Then there are our friends. These are the people we choose to spend our time with. We share more of ourselves with them because we value them, therefor we value their thoughts. The people who think they know us best, are our family. They usually want what’s best for us, and they quite often think they know what’s best for us! Bouncing idea’s off of people is always a good idea, but when it comes to making a decision, we need to decide what is best for ourselves. Not what someone else thinks is best for us.
This is where things can get even trickier! Not only do we take into consideration everything we’ve absorbed from the media, our co-workers, friends and family, but there are also two apposing voices inside our head. Much like the proverbial “little white angel” on one shoulder and the “little red, pitch fork holding devil” on the other…these voices are very real. The small, still, soothing voice of the holy spirit is sometimes harder to hear. Yet, this is the voice we need to hear. It is a positive, inspiring and uplifting voice. It tells you “You can do it!” While the other voice is that of the ego. It likes to disguise itself as “the voice of reason”. It tricks you into thinking you’re not good enough. It bombards you with thoughts like…”You’re not” smart enough, strong enough, fit enough or attractive enough to accomplish what you want. Or – you’ll never be able to afford to buy this or do that. This voice is full of excuses and will never help you acheive or accomplish anything, if you choose to listen to it.
Like “The Secret” states, every decision you will ever make comes from either a place of love or a place of fear…or one of their derivitives. Love is real, the genuine article, the true voice of reason and encouragement. This is the one that will help us acheive our goals while assisting others in acheiving their’s as well. The ego’s voice is loud, negative, selfish and obnoxious. It will always hold you back and make excuses for why you can’t, instead of why you can. It will point out what you, and others, are lacking.
So please, listen to the voice that reminds you of the positive things about yourself and others. This will assist you in connecting with the right people, places and things to help you accomplish your goals in life! Opportunities await us everyday and there are always stepping stones to get us where we want to be. When we make confident, positive decisions the possabilities and our abilities to acheive anything, are endless. The Law of Attraction is real and it works everytime. Attract the positive by thinking, listening to and believing in, the positive voice that’s inside yourself! That’s who we should be listening to. Wishing all of you light and love!
