TEACH through Love, Transforming the Emotional Abuse of Children is an organization dedicated to raising the global awareness of emotional abuse and transforming the pain of childhood trauma into a passion for life by promoting Conscious Parenting for Progressive Parents.
Everyday millions of children are verbally and psychologically mistreated. Although the most widely recognized forms of abuse are Physical and Sexual, at the core of all abuses is Emotional Abuse. These systematic attacks on a child’s emotional well-being and sense of self-worth have become a national epidemic.
At the same time, it appears our societal norm has devolved into blindly encouraging the development of the ego at the expense of the human spirit. We have become a society that delights in mockery rather than humor – people who acknowledge cruelty toward others as a tool more powerful than love .
Lori Petro, BS.Ed. is the founder of TEACH through Love and a Writer/Speaker, Child Advocate and Mom to one fantastic preschooler. Originally from Philadelphia, Lori graduated magna cum laude from Temple University with her bachelors in Early Childhood & Elementary Education.
Along with an extensive background in entertainment, Lori has also been working with children and families for over fifteen years as a former teacher, children’s entertainer, volunteer mentor with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Los Angeles and as a certified parent educator with the Beyond Consequences Institute.
Lori’s passion for the emotional well-being of children and families has motivated her to educate and inform the masses through various forms of media awareness including film/TV, internet and radio. She is dedicated to shifting the mainstream paradigm toward compassionate communication and non-punitive discipline through a relationship-based parenting model.
Lori is available to speak at your school or group event and regularly hosts online parenting classes and special topic webinars with experts in trauma, nutrition and healing. She also provides daily tips and inspiration on the TEACH through Love Facebook Fan Page.
She currently lives in Los Angeles with her amazing husband, four-year-old-old daughter and copious amounts of dust.
