Life is about experiences not things. As humans we seem to be striving for an accumulation of more and more things. However these things are outside ourselves and will never bring us what we truly desire. Make a conscious shift in the direction of your energy. Focus on experiences not things. Experiences breathe life!

I have been aware of the cosmic energetic changes for quite some time. The cosmic plan is to lift our planet into the higher frequencies of the cosmos in order to restore it to its original role of ‘planet of knowledge’. This plan was put into motion many years ago and it is now reaching its final stages. By now, I am sure, many people are fully aware that our planet is somehow changing and that everything around us is affected by these changes.
As the energies around us mutate and shift, enabling the planet to cleanse and renew itself, people are beginning to wake up to the realisation that their minds have been controlled for centuries, and that they have been totally mislead and confused as to what the truth about the planet Earth and their own existence really is.
Throughout millennia the inhabitants of planet Earth have been manipulated into various belief systems which have caused nothing but division, conflict and pain. They have been controlled by fear and they do not know how to live any other way, and while they live on this planet divided and disconnected from higher frequencies they can be easily controlled, and instead of thinking for themselves they have allowed other people to put ideas into their minds which they follow, often without question. So with all this confusion, there is a considerable amount of speculation and misunderstanding about what the current planetary changes are. Regrettably, the answers are not going to be found through scientific data, or in the old belief systems and various predictions. The first thing that needs to be understood is that everything is energy, and through our own personal mass of energy we are connected to everything else and need to learn to access the information ourselves by tapping into the higher cosmic energy sources.
It is also essential to realise that with these current energetic changes the time has come for everyone to open their minds and start thinking for themselves and to connect to the true cosmic values of unity, knowledge and co-operation. This opportunity to connect to higher vibrations of the cosmos, which is happening now, in our lifetime, has not happened before on this planet and will never happen again. This is the time that many of us have worked towards, through our many incarnations, in order to have this extraordinary opportunity to arrive at the ultimate awareness and connection to the Creator.
Please find below another extract from The Encounter. I hope you will find it interesting enough to want to read the book
Quite unexpectedly, I had the feeling that someone was trying to tell me something important. I left my sketch of the alien face on the easel and went to the meditation room.
You need to write this down, I heard inwardly.
Picking up a small notebook and pencil I sat down on the mat. I found the most comfortable position, closed my eyes and started to breathe deeply. Suddenly, I could see an intense white light and the voice continued. Opening my eyes and doing my best to hold the energy, I started writing.
Massive amounts of cosmic energy are currently striking your planet. These energies are being transmitted to your planet to produce remarkable changes. The whole cosmos is supporting your planet at this time as it is going through a very important transformation. Planet Earth is purifying and renewing itself. Only the strongest forms will transform and remain, which also applies to humans as they move into the higher level of consciousness. The energies are supporting everything and everyone through these difficult times. The tests are hard and only the strong and committed will be able to cope, however, the rewards are huge.
For the next few years there will be a lot of turmoil, from which will emerge peace and tranquillity. Those who will last that long will have an opportunity beyond any other, an opportunity to inhabit a renewed planet where anger, greed, hate, fear and lack of knowledge will be the things of the past… Your planet, Planet Earth, was originally designed as the planet of knowledge for the entire cosmos. This right was taken away, and for centuries it has been controlled and manipulated, but finally these times are coming to an end… So, the changes have started and there is nothing that can stop them. The new beginning is but around the corner, approaching more quickly than anyone realises, but before the dawn of this new beginning the old has to go.
Children are children, and no matter what you might think, they will ignore your dying wish once the moment serves them so you really can’t expect much else. I am being quite dramatic, I know, but the more you accept this fact the better parenting can be.
I have twin daughters almost reaching 6 years of age and even though I know intimately that they would do absolutely anything for me, I also know that this won’t be very likely until they reach a more mature age. We’ve all heard about how children are more connected to spirit, to Oneness, to the Universal “Is-ness”, than the average adult. The reason for this is because they have spent less time here in the Earthly plane of existence, building their Ego. So reasoning with them as if they have an Ego is really unrealistic. Yet it’s difficult understanding any other way of reasoning so many parents continue to demand that their children follow their every wish.
Children learn best through experience, and the best experiences come from those times when they don’t do as we say. I can point to a most recent experience that we had to illustrate this for you. As my children grew from toddler-hood into child-hood, I began teaching them about boundaries. More specifically, the boundaries of what is “yours” and what is “mine”. This is an important rule of life that our society has developed even though our natural state, our ethereal state, knows no such boundaries.
So how do you communicate to children that this is “mine” and that is “yours” and I don’t want you playing with what is “mine” but I can pick up what is “yours” whenever I choose? Well that is a hard one and the important element, I have learned, is a deep understanding of how the child is thinking in the moment that they break the “rules”. They are simply living out life as they remember it to be and knowing this can add a little patience to our child-rearing.
When my children were young they grew up hearing me explain that my stuffed toy, a small Siamese cat, was “mine” and not to be played with. I illustrated this by putting it high up on a shelf, where they wouldn’t be tempted to play with it. I had an emotional attachment to it, as it was something my mother had given me while in college and bore a striking resemblance to my real Siamese cat at the time, Savannah. Savannah had since passed on so the little toy was even more important to me as time passed.
Now I know intimately that we are not our things and that a stuffed toy is merely a representation of a feeling that I have, which ultimately cannot be taken away. That is why I was not too upset when recently I discovered that my children had taken the toy to school and given it to one of their best friends. This seems like a serious breach of “rules” to most parents, but I instinctively knew that I should feel blessed. Yes, they knew enough that the toy held a great amount of significance, and only a toy of such honor deserved to be given to their very best friend in the world.
Of course, I explained to them that although I wasn’t angry with them for giving away my stuffed pet, I was disappointed that they had done so knowing that it was not theirs to give away. Again I had to explain that in our culture, our society, we operate with “rules” and “boundaries” and to go against them could cause harm to themselves or someone else so it is best to respect them for now. This is the hardest concept of all for a child because almost every rule we have doesn’t feel right to them, since we come from a place with no such thing. I tried my best to explain that as we get older, we can understand a little better why the rules are there, but for now I am asking them to trust me as their Mommy to know what is right for them.
Don’t worry, it all works out in the end because everything has a purpose, and a lesson to be learned. Knowing this can help you continue to reinforce this with them. As they grow older, they will learn why it is they were raised this way so that they perform normally in our society and doing so with the ultimate truth in their heart.
As it turns out, the stuffed pet was taken to a department store and lost in the changing rooms there. I don’t frequent that particular department store and several weeks went by. One of my daughters asked me about it and why I didn’t go and get the toy and I realized that I had just accepted the loss and forgot about trying to retrieve it. I told her that I had let it go and hoped that it found its way to a new child.
Then one day, I was in the same store purchasing a gift for my nephew. I had put the shopping trip off to the last possible minute of the last possible day and as I was standing at the counter getting ready to pay, a man came in and asked the clerk, “Do you have a lost and found?” and in the blink of an eye, I suddenly remembered my lost stuffed pet. Surely they still didn’t have it after all this time?
But as I stated before, it all turns out well since they did in fact have the stuffed animal in the changing room, set up on a shelf where she could watch people coming and going. I took her home with me smiling since I had another wonderful lesson to teach to my children. My lesson to them was this: we all have rules and boundaries and “yours” and “mine” but we don’t have to be held by those rules and we don’t really have to fear the loss of our things. I let go of my thing and it came back to me, quite magically, in my opinion. Since it was such a small little window of time for a miracle to unfold, that two minutes of standing at the counter to pay for my purchase, but it’s all we need to make it happen.
I continue to search for ways to show my children the beautiful magic of where we come from, if anything just to help them to accept the rules and boundaries that we follow while living on this planet. We’ve all agreed to play together, to love each other and to help each other grow even if it is by breaking the rules now and then.

29. THE ABYSMAL, WATER
ABOVE AND BELOW:
The abyss above and the abyss below.
Water above and water below.
Critical without and critical within.
Danger of too much analysis.
Without a change of attitude,
It will be difficult to find good helpers.
One will feel obliged to do everything oneself.
Health and hygiene.
Danger upon danger.
Discrimination over the corners of the mouth.
Great care is needed over what goes in
and what comes out of the mouth.
Too much negativity can destroy.
To be sparing of words is helpful.
If you don’t have something good to say, don’t say it!
Concentrate on self improvement.
Danger can be diminished but not by empowering it.
Brooding will increase danger.
Good food, good drink, simple exercise, or nothing!
Set an example!
Cleanliness is close to divine.
Difficulties within, difficulties without.
Powerful position with limited resources.
Strong motivation, weak application.
Power in one’s inner depth accompanied by a lack of self discipline.
A position of authority with moderate support.
If one does not keep busy there will be trouble.
If one does not keep others busy there will be trouble.
So much to do, so little time.
The second son to himself.
The second son is naturally discriminating.
He is critical about what he eats and about what is said.
He tends to withdraw.
He does not appreciate the criticism of others.
He is a perfectionist and senses the need for improvement.
He is vulnerable to the danger of too much discrimination.
He can be very lazy or work very hard
But he does not like to be watched
Or told what to do.
He is sensitive to matters of health and hygiene
And he does not want to get old.
He tends to be closer to the mother than the father.
Darkness increases and so does responsibility.
So many people. So much to do.
One cannot be perfect for everyone.
It is enough to do the best that one can
And fix what needs to be fixed.
Do not make promises. Do not voice criticism.
Strive to improve your techniques.
Do not rely on others. Do the job yourself.
One can be crippled by criticism… within and without.
Silence is golden.
Actions speak louder than words.
Six in the third place: (15° – 16° Virgo)
One eats when one should not
And drinks more than is appropriate.
There will be repercussions.
Respect will be lost.
The third place: 15° – 16° Virgo: 24. Return, The Turning Point
A new beginning.
One returns to face the music.
Consideration for the needs of others
Will inspire the right action.
Six in the third place:
Trouble ahead and trouble behind.
One is not prepared.
Incompetence will encourage incompetence.
Complete your own work well
Before you assess the efforts of others.
This is the Virgo New Moon. The accentuation is on criticism and difficulty in expressing emotional sincerity, hence the abysmal water. Deep feelings that cannot or will not be expressed are like water at the bottom of a deep crevice or pit. It is dangerous to try to get too close or to make fun of them. We are usually our own worst enemies. Awareness of our faults can be useful but too much concentration on them can increase them.
Do not ask yourself what is wrong. Ask yourself what is healing. It helps to be healing!
If you do not have something good to say then it is probably a good sign that silence would be appropriate.
Another good example would be playing in a band or symphony orchestra. If you lose your place or play the wrong note, you want to explain what happened and why you messed up. But nobody wants to know why you messed up! They just want you to pick up where you are now and join in properly. Don’t look back and accentuate the problems. Get into the moment and the problems will fall away.
What has happened is not as important as what you are doing now! In fact, memories are just chains that we carry around in our psyches to impose on the moment, and on anyone who comes into it. They chain us to the past and prevent us from being here, now.
If we remain stuck to our chains of thoughts and memories we will only attract darkness, worry and fear. Chanting is a tool that can help us to overcome our thoughts and break the chains on our hearts. Hari Om!
Chanting can help us to let go and get into the moment, to be here unconditionally. Imagine feeling good for no reason! The alternative is not worth considering as it will in time diminish peace and increase discontent.
When you say a name of God, God is there. It also means that you are completely in the moment as well. The more times you say the name the more God is here and the more you are too. This is a win-win situation. Chanting is a most valuable tool, especially if you are inclined to think too much, and analyze everything. Have you ever tried to not think for even a moment? Its kind of like in the first movie of Ghost Busters. When told not to think of anything, be quiet. The reply came…”Too Late!”
Actions follow thoughts. What follows silence? Can you imaging being active without thoughts or speculations? This is one of the aims of Tai Chi. Thoughts disturb silent action and peace. Control of the breath can bring about control of the mind, but this way can be difficult. It takes a lot of time and effort. Chanting is another way to control one’s thoughts. The more one thinks, the louder one should chant. Get into it. Get into the moment.
Chanting can be done silently in the mind, or by humming it, or by chanting out loud. But it is suggested that chanting should be out loud until it is so familiar that it can be maintained mentally without stopping.
Chanting allows one’s psyche to be cleansed. It is truly a healing process.
If we add light and love into our life even by chanting for a few minutes each day, we will before long change how we remember yesterday. If this is continued for several months, most diseases could be healed, and our inherent innocence and wonder restored.
Chanting on a New Moon is especially auspicious as it is a moment of new beginnings. The old is gone. The seed of the new germinates. It is a pretty good idea to plant a few heartfelt seeds of chanting at the time of the New Moon, or even close to it, like on the same day. Are you even interested in healing yourself? Are you interested in removing the chains of thoughts that keep us in darkness, despair and poor health? What have you got to lose? Hari Om!
This New Moon is the first somewhat positive New Moon in many months. We have survived in spite of the doubts and fears! Mercury is retrograde however and there is a tendency for poor communications and misunderstood thoughts. This can be solved remarkably by chanting and getting into the moment. It removes the very thoughts that cause the problems. Chanting allows us to learn to communicate emotionally without words! Imagine that! Hari Om!
Every little bit of work we do on enlightening or healing ourselves, sends a wonderful light out to everyone we encounter.
This is a Virgo New Moon! Be healthy! Think positive! Think God!
Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om, Hari Om,

If you had told me 15 years ago that I would be teaching people about spirituality, I would have thought you were crazy. Although I had always been a spiritual person, and believed in Angels and Spirit Guides, I was not one that would share my beliefs with people. As a teenager raised in a metaphysical household, in Salt Lake City, Utah, I was taught by society that if I wanted to be accepted by the outside world, I was not to share experiences that others would consider weird, I learned to conform. At that time, the early 80’s, talking to Angels, spirits and deceased family members was not only weird, it was unacceptable. Trying to find a place to “fit” is very important for a teenager, but because of my experiences, I never did “fit”. I had a ghost in my house for several years. She would turn the TV on and off, change the radio station to a song I was thinking about, and pop movies out of the VCR. This was “normal” in my house. My Mother was a wonderful, clear channel of spirit, and she taught me that this “weird stuff” was real, that I could ask questions, and get answers back. At the time, I never really knew who was answering back. I just always assumed it was me answering because it sounded like my voice. I learned that if it was a critical voice, it was my ego. If it was a voice of love, comfort and support, it was my Angels or my Spirit Guides. Unfortunately, I felt that most of my answers were critical, which meant I was too much in my head, coming from my ego, and I needed to learn to get into my heart and invite the Angels to work with me. I asked the Angels to help me love myself unconditionally, and it was then that I began my journey as a student, which turned into realizing my life’s purpose as a Teacher, Spiritual Counselor, Healer and Medium.
The first time I saw an angel, I was 13 years old. I had awoke in the middle of the night, looked up, and saw this being floating over my bed. I wasn’t scared at all. I felt very safe and at peace. I acknowledged her, rolled over and went back to sleep. It was as if she had always been there with me, and she had. She was my Guardian Angel. Angels will come to you in the way that you believe them to be. What I mean by that is that if you believe they are beautiful winged beings with a human body, that is the way they will appear to you, as mine did to me many years ago. If you believe that they are an energy, which is the way they appear to me now, you will feel or see them as light, color or a vibration. When my brother was 5 years old, he saw them in the form of shapes. Many people see flashes of light or balls of light around them and wonder if that is the Angels. It is! Say hello to them, invite them in. Ask them what their message is for you today!
Many people have questions about communicating with their angels. In my classes and workshops, the most frequently asked questions are quite possibly some of the questions you have yourself, such as:
Why can some people see, hear or feel their angels and others can’t? Some people are more aware than others are. Everyone has the ability to see, hear, feel and know, but some people have developed it more than others have.
How do you know your Angels name? This is actually so simple that many people don’t believe that they can do it. You simply ask!
Are there really Angels around me, and if so, why can’t I see or feel them? Everyone has Angels around them. In order to see and feel them you have to develop your awareness.
The Angels are here to comfort, guide and support you… They are not here to tell you what to do, how to act, or who to be. They are not here to judge you. They are here to remind you that you have their unconditional love and support, at all times, no matter what “mistakes” or “problems” you believe you have created for yourselves. They remind you that everything happens for a reason, even if you aren’t aware of that reason at the time.
The first thing to remember when working with the angels is that in order for the Angels to work with you, you have to ASK for their help. Many times, in the midst of your busy, hectic lives, you forget to ask for help from the spirit world, oftentimes you forget to ask for help from anyone, period. People don’t realize that asking for help from the Angels is as easy as thinking the thought or saying the words, “Angels, I need your help”! You can ask for help with anything from taking a test, finding a parking place, meeting the perfect mate, or even healing cancer or disease. The Course in Miracles® states, “There is no order of difficulty in miracles. One is not “harder” or “bigger” than another. They are all the same. All expressions of love are maximal”. The Angels want you to be happy, and they support you in creating that happiness in your lives! Most of the time, the reason you don’t ask for help from the spirit world is because you forget, you forget that you have this unconditional love and support surrounding you. The Angels are always there, waiting and willing to help!
Now that you have asked the Angels for help, you need to pay attention to the guidance you receive. Awareness is the key! The spirit world is talking to you all of the time, and it is your job to listen. The Angels talk to you through license plates, repeated songs on the radio, “gut” feelings, Divine Timing situations, and through other people. Some people call it synchronicity or coincidence. If you truly believe that everything happens for a reason, there can be no coincidence, this is your Divine Guidance talking to you. When you listen to your messages, your life flows. Things just seem to fall into place. When you aren’t listening to your guidance, you often feel like you are hitting your head against a wall, that nothing you do is working right and oftentimes it makes you cry aloud, HELP! Then, you listen! Most of the time!
In order to connect with your Angels and Spirit Guides, you need to be aware of everything around you. It takes practice to tune in and listen to what is not being said. There are many exercises to help you develop your awareness of spirit in your daily lives. You collect all kinds of tools to help listen to your intuition and to pay attention to your guidance. Some of the tools that I have found very helpful are Angel Card Readings, Crystals, Automatic Writing, Reiki or Energy Healing, Manifestation and Intention, Meditation, and Psychometry. Your own body is always talking and it is very important to listen to it. To develop your guidance, I encourage you to find a teacher you connect with and use the tools that feel right to you.
Remember, the Angels are talking, are you listening?
The Luminous Ones –
Seeds of divinity,
Came to indulge
Their dimmer extremities
In a legendary moment
Made up of
Long, tumultuous years.
Born they were
As shallow variety,
Tricking their begetters,
Mold of practice
Until they were noticed –
Until they felt
A crack that bled
They were shown
One memory –
A memory of One
And delight burst
From bubbles that popped
On each link
Of the connecting web,
And filling voids.
The Luminous Ones
They encouraged the music
And shared the light,
For the moment
About twenty years ago all my five super-senses opened and I had various realizations and was made aware of the cosmic planetary changes. During the last twenty years I have learned a lot about the cosmos and cosmic energies. The knowledge is so vast that I decided to write a book (The Encounter) to share some of this knowledge with people in a non intrusive way. The Encounter has been written as a novel to leave the reader to connect to certain aspects of the book from within, as I strongly believe that everyone needs to find their own truth.
I have always known that energy originates from one source and everything exists within that energy. Our bodies are dependent upon energy and there is a universal force which governs our existence. The story has been written around this understanding and brings up various possibilities and often complex, thought-provoking concepts. The information contained within the pages of The Encounter can produce many internal conflicts for the reader. However, the understanding is based upon the energies associated with the universal energy of love.
My perception is that planet earth is going through a purification process before it enters into a completely new energetic structure. Part of this purification manifests itself as an increase in earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions, as well as unusual weather patterns. The inhabitants of planet earth are part of this purification process. As the new energies descend onto the planet they create an opportunity for everyone to increase their own body frequency, which in turn will create an opportunity to connect to the higher frequencies of the cosmos. People who are self-absorbed and not prepared to look within, will lose the chance to progress further. The values of the majority of people on planet earth are different from cosmic values and the new energies descending on the planet will assist people in learning the ways of the cosmos. The self-centered attitudes and creed of greed have to go. The old belief systems will be replaced with the new understanding based on cosmic knowledge and cosmic values of unity and co-operation.
Below is an extract from my book I hope you will find interesting and thought-provoking:
I made my way to the spare room, which was located next to the living room downstairs. Apart from a bookcase and a small table the room was practically empty and I used it for meditation. I closed the curtains to cut out the light and lowered myself onto a soft mat, arranging my body in the lotus position. Closing my eyes I started breathing deeply into my stomach in an attempt to empty my mind.
Almost immediately my body started to feel warm and a quiet voice began:
Many are called, but few are chosen. You have been called and now is the time when you have an opportunity to prove yourself and your commitment to the cosmos. Planet Earth is changing its energetic structure and needs highly energetic people to help with this change. You have reincarnated many times on Earth and other planets of the cosmos to learn and understand the cosmic laws. You have learned a lot of valuable lessons; the difference between right and wrong, and that cosmic laws are absolute. The cosmic knowledge is within you. The changes that are taking place on your planet now are fully understood by your inner self. You have been preparing for this moment in history for many centuries and now is the time when the cosmos calls for your help. Through your calmness you will be able to access cosmic knowledge and know what needs to be done.
Planet Earth is going through a purification process before it enters into its new energetic structure. There will be earthquakes, floods and volcanic eruptions. Planet Earth is changing – it is clearing itself of unwanted energies, purifying itself to its very core. The inhabitants of Planet Earth are part of this purification process and those who can raise their own personal body frequency will be able to move forwards and benefit from the planetary changes. The ones who are self-absorbed and not prepared to look within will be left behind. The values of the majority of people on your planet are different from the cosmic values. The self-centered attitudes and creed of greed have to go. The new energies descending on the planet, will force people to learn new ways; the ways of the cosmos. As they learn, the old belief systems will be replaced with the new understanding based on cosmic knowledge… These changes have already started and time is running out.
If you are interested in reading the book please visit my mini website www.hannahorrell.com for more information.
There is a very subtle, quiet and yet powerful stream of energy just underneath where we live on a conscious level. This stream is carrying us forward…that is if we listen to it, if we allow it and if we let it. We can choose to make this stream the guiding force of our lives or not. That is the greatest power that we have…the power to choose. This power of choice applies to everything we experience, but in my opinion most importantly it applies to how, when or if we choose to have this stream be our guide. The stream will always lead us back to our true selves, the Divine and to eachother.
Meditation of any sort is a way to break free from all the thoughts in our mind in order to connect with the stream and what the stream is guiding us towards or away from. Without some form of meditation, there is almost no way to connect, feel, hear or ultimately act on the stream’s guidance.
When we speak of ways of listening to the stream we can stumble into a “this way” or “that way” dogma in terms of meditation practice. I try to steer clear of prescribing that there may be one way or another that may be better or worse when it comes to meditation. One of my favorite bits of advice about this comes from Neale Donald Walsh when he says “If you feel God eating a salami sandwich, by golly do that!” There are millions of people in the world and there are millions of ways to hear, feel, see and act upon the stream.
There is a groundswell going on the planet right now. This groundswell is a profound calling, a calling all of us recognize on an extremely deep level. It is a calling that until now only great mystics, yogis and enlightened beings could hear, but something has changed. I believe that what has changed is that humankind is on the verge of a brand new dawn of existence. This new existence has everything to do with the stream and the gentle defenseless power of the stream to create a new world that possibly has never been experienced on earth before.
Whether we realize it or not, we are all part of this mass movement inward and towards the stream. We have made the choice to be here and be here NOW so that we could begin to usher in this time of releasing our identification with the outer manifestations and instead identification with the internal stream that is flowing within all of us at all times.
What You Can Do:
STOP. BREATHE. ALLOW. TRUST. Doing this pattern, whether it be for 20 minutes or 2. It will help the stream to be the guiding force in your life. Once it is the guiding force, you will shift and so will the world around you.
Here’s to beautiful cruise downstream………
Having a constant sense of impatience for something to happen in our lives is very common and in many ways quite natural. We all strive to see what the future will bring and that is not necessarily a bad thing, but in our desire to speed up the natural flow it can actually keep us stuck.
Whether it be wanting that dream relationship to be here now, needing a resolution to a problem or just about anything really, the feeling of impatience can actually halt the natural process of our spiritual growth. Impatience keeps us from living totally in the Now of life and from being in touch with our authentic selves and moment by moment impulses. For it is in this moment that we find the guidance and hear the Divine.
If we are constantly putting our focus on something in the future, we will inevitably fail to see, feel and react to what is right in front of us. And many times it is the things that are right in front of us that will help us deal with or solve the problems that we are being impatient about.
Impatience comes from our need to control the outcome or resolution of a certain situation. We may want a person to do what we want them to do. We may want a scenario in our lives to go the way in which we want them to go. Whatever it may be it is a form of control and not flow.
When we have flow in our lives it is not as if we don’t look forward to events and situations. We do. The difference is there isn’t this sense of trying to figure it all out, and more importantly trying to get the result that we think is the best.
When we begin to let go of results and stay in the flow of moment by moment living, a beautiful thing begins to happen. Instead of impatience, a sense of what I call, divine anticipation begins to manifest in our lives. The best way to describe this divine anticipation is what we have as children at Christmas or holiday time. Remember that feeling when you were so excited about Christmas morning? You weren’t quite sure what would be under the tree, but you couldn’t wait for it to come and you knew it would.
Divine anticipation is the positive side of impatience. Divine anticipation is the thrilling sense that something is coming. You may not know specifically what it is that’s coming, but you know it is! It is always exciting, positive and gives you energy.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
One of the best ways to cultivate Divine anticipation is to meditate. As you meditate you
slowly let go of your need to control. You begin to know that everything in your life is exactly perfect for your highest good and is leading closer to the Divine. This knowing opens you up and when you open up life becomes more fun and much more an adventure!
Start by just meditating 10 mins 2 times a day by sitting very quiet and simply saying “Let Go, let go, let go….” over and over. Once you start this practice, a new energy will ignite in you and you will start feeling Divine anticipation for… something!
I’m Divinely anticipating great things for you!
We live in a world of expectations. We are expected to be good parents, sons, daughters, grandparents, siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, and others that I have probably missed. But, what about our expectations for our own lives? What do we expect to accomplish with our lives outside of others expectations?
Parents seem to be doing more doing for their kids instead of being with them. This isn’t a cheat shot at parents. Parenting is a challenging and vacation-less pursuit that lasts at least 18 years. Sometimes, all your kids need is 10 minutes of your time and not money for the latest video game. Instead of your kids thinking that Blackberry’s are phones, let them know that they are also a fruit that has been around since before TV (back in the “Electronic” Dark Ages). Why not take them to a berry farm and pick blackberries as a family?
It is time to consider the expectations for your life. There are two types of expectations. First, there are outcome expectations which are “Thinking from the End.” Second, there are efficiency expectations which are “Thinking about the Process.”
Outcome expectations are what goals to we want to accomplish in this life. What are the “Ends” that you want? Do you want inner peace? What about a satisfying romantic relationship? How about good friends? When we start to think about all of what we want from life it can become a daunting task that seems never-ending or impossible. Especially, when many of our life goals overlap. Don’t we want our romantic partner to also be a best friend?
I would make a list of what you want in your obituary. Kinda morbid but a great starting point. Ok, really morbid but life isn’t all roses until you expect that it is. Patanjali said, “There is nothing wrong in my world.” I would suggest that you write Patanjali’s statement and carry it with you. It will really help you. Stop reading this article and make the list. Once you have the list, review it. What will you need to do to have that obituary? Narrow it down to the 5 most important goals. This is the starting point of the second part of expectations which is efficiency expectations that is in my next column.
We often struggle with decisions because our head can get in the way. We analyze them to death and then never take action. Or we make choices out of fear instead.
The True Choice Meditation is a powerful practice that I use frequently for tapping into my intuition, or my inner knowingness, to make difficult decisions. To help yourself decide if your choices are coming from true choice, guilt or fear, ask yourself, the following questions:
- What is the purpose of this activity?
- Who will benefit from this task?
- Am I doing it out of true choice or habit?
- Is the action I’m taking working toward my bigger goals?
Now sit or lie down in a quiet place and close your eyes. Take deep breaths until your body relaxes and your mind is clear. Now visualize yourself doing this activity. Now ask yourself the following questions:
- What sensations are you feeling in your body when you see yourself doing this activity?
- Do any emotions arise?
- Do I feel fear, nausea, perspiration or shakiness when I think of myself living this choice?
- Does the activity work with or against my inner knowingness, personal beliefs or big-picture goals?
The sensations in your body are strong clues as to whether you are making a fitting decision or not. Your body is communicating something to you, and if you really take the time to listen, your intuition or inner wisdom will give you the answer you need. Just listen.
You will often hear or feel, “I don’t want this anymore,” or “This feels right.” You might feel excited butterflies or a lightness, which may mean that this is a good decision.
If you feel pain, a suffocating sensation or a sickening feeling, this decision may be working against your true self. The trick is that you not only have to listen to your inner wisdom, you also need to follow its lead.
What are some of your bigger goals or dreams that are sitting on the shelf because life has gotten too busy for you to even think about them?
You might be thinking, “I will get to them next month, next year.” Well, we know how that goes.
The year passes you by and those desires are still sitting on the shelf, collecting dust. Then the frustration begins to creep in because there is a deep longing inside you to bring these dreams to life.
Here are a few suggestions to get the momentum going while continuing to live your day-to-day life:
Week One: Clarify what you really want. Nothing will happen until you get clear about your goals. Find 30 minutes of private time during one day this week and take out a pad of paper to do some creative scribbling, drawing or journaling about what you would like to see unfold. Maybe you would like to take a trip to Portugal, learn another language, plant an herb garden, write a book or remodel your bathroom. Perhaps a lifestyle uplift by taking more alone time for yourself, or beginning an exercise program.
Week Two: What are the large steps that need to happen to reach your goal? If it is to plan a trip, write down all the steps involved, such as research on flights, hotels, travel sites you are interested in. If you want to write a book but don’t know where to start, maybe the first thing you need to do is to read a book about writing a book. If you want to plant a garden, but you’re not sure what you would like it to consist of, one of your large steps (I call these Mile Steps) would be to spend some time researching plants or flowers. You aren’t actually doing any of this work yet, you are merely writing these steps down. By seeing your large goals broken down into smaller steps, they are much more palatable and easier to swallow.
Week 3: Break it down into daily action steps. Take your Mile Steps from week two and break each one down into small increments. For instance, take your garden research and break it down into 10 minute increments per day. I call these Mini Feats, or small steps of accomplishment. Read your ‘how to’ book for 10 minutes each day. Try doing three Mini Feats per day toward your larger goal, and by the end of the week you are at least 15 steps closer to attaining it. If you say you don’t have 30 minutes somewhere in your day, I have to reply, “I don’t believe you!” Wake up 20 minutes earlier, take 10 minutes during lunch, watch one less football game during the day … I could go on.
Week 4 and on … Make sure you write down your three Mini Feats for each day and give them a time, like an appointment. This way you will be much more committed to making them happen. For more momentum, plan your Mini Feat’s the Sunday of each week. You will be that much closer to your dream by the following Saturday! You don’t want to look back in 10 years and realize that you’re still at the same place in your life then as now. Even if you love your life now, growth is a necessary part of your involvement on this planet. Every single day of your life is precious. Embrace it, and those you love, to the fullest.
Today’s generation of women-owned firms in the United States contribute nearly $3 trillion to our national economy, create or maintain 23 million jobs and produce employment for 16 percent of the U.S. workforce, according to the Center for Women’s Business Research’s economic impact study.
The difference between this generation of women and that of our mother’s is, simply, choice. In the ’60s and ’70s, women forged out into the workforce to exercise their rights to a career. As they began feeling the pressure from the demands of balancing career and motherhood, many opted to resume the role of stay-at-home mom.
In the last decade, the shift in thought has been, “If I am going to put myself out into the world, I want to choose a career that is an extension of who I am as a person. If I am going to put this much energy and effort into my career, while continuing to take care of my family, I want to create something that I really love to do, that I am passionate about.”
Women want to feel a sense of accomplishment. They want a sense of identity separate from their relationship and their children. When this happens, they feel more fulfilled and, in turn, have more to give to those they love.
Connie Delong’s son, Tom, contacted me a year ago to coach his mother to find a career that would be fulfilling to her. Delong had a strong desire to create a career that was meaningful and uplifting. She had been in the mortgage business for years for financial reasons only.
“It is very stressful work and even though I am good at it, it was never very fulfilling for me,” Delong said.
Her true passion is grief recovery support, which she had been doing for years on a volunteer basis through Horizon Hospice of Poway. She wanted to start her own business for a longtime, but was afraid to take the leap and leave her job.
“This economy forced me to find a new way to pay the bills. My gut was telling me that at this point in my life I could no longer work at a job that was unsatisfying. Life is too short to not go after your dreams,” Delong said. “My life and business coach helped me move past my fear of becoming an entrepreneur, and then supported me in laying out a step-by-step strategic plan to create my own grief counseling business.”
Delong is now the proud president of San Diego-based Breakthrough Grief Recovery. She recently stated that she hasn’t been this excited about her life in years.
Linda Webb walked into my office feeling stuck and run down. She used to be a buyer at Nordstrom’s, but went through a divorce and couldn’t travel anymore because she needed to be home with her young children.
She took a job for survival purposes, time quickly passed and before she knew it, 10 years had gone by and her kids were in high school. Webb said she felt like she was running on a hamster wheel that wasn’t going anywhere.
Webb always wanted her own fashion store. She loved the creativity of fashion, but felt having her own storefront was not a viable option. The other side of the story is that Webb’s mother had passed away from pancreatic cancer a few years before.
She said her mom used to find pennies at her feet all the time and would always pick them up and make a wish. Webb’s mom told her that it meant someone in heaven was watching over her. For the few months after her mom passed, Webb was finding pennies everywhere.
Over several months, I guided Webb to help her make her dream come true. She is now the president of heavenspennies.com, an online fashion store. A portion of the proceeds go to pancreatic cancer research, hence the name.
The keyword here is choice, and women are choosing to re-invent themselves in ways that fit their lifestyle, dreams and desires, rather than what has been expected of them by society or family. When they move past their fears and take steps in this direction, watch out. There is absolutely nothing they cannot achieve.
Do you ever wonder why life keeps making you repeat the same circumstances over and over again?
Maybe the God/Source/Universe wants you to learn from the mistakes and take a new direction for your life. It is possible that you are faced with the same situation over and over again because life wants you to learn something from it that will propel you to a new life dimension. We all fall down and not meet our personal standards all of the time. Our shortcomings can be our learning opportunities. We just have to be open to them. A closed mind doesn’t learn much, but an open mind is capable of anything.
An open mind is the catalyst for overcoming life’s exams. The only way to live your ultimate life is to be open to what life throws at you for you to catch. When we drop the ball, we fail. It is possible to fail forward and not backward. We might try to pass a certain life exam and fail but that doesn’t mean we can’t try again. For example, let’s say you don’t get along with one of your partner’s siblings. You can leave the strained relationship or you can try to create a healthy relationship. It might not happen with just the next visit but if you truly send out positive and loving thoughts towards them, over time they will come around. I have seen the sourest people become friends and even lovers. It is possible but without thinking about it and focusing on the process, it will not change. The mind is very powerful. There is no computer capable of the processing power of your three-pound brain. You will need to focus your mind on the process of getting to the end goal. If you focus on the process and don’t think about a desired outcome, the outcome might surprise you and be better than the outcome you wanted.
Pick a situation in your life that you seem to be repeating over and over again. Think about the process of repeating and find a way to change the process to reach a different outcome.
