Lets Explore your Meditation, and also what you are getting in terms of information.
We all find it difficult to meditate, we are told from an early age to empty our minds but is this ever possible?. I have been teaching people meditation for over 15 years now, and in my opinion you can never empty your mind. The mind is an active muscle that needs to be kept going with information and the flow of information, we will automatically think about what we need to do and what we have done. We cannot just forget things, we have to acknowledge them and then push them to one site.
The best way to look at meditating is to get yourself into a comfortable position, nice and relax. Turn the lights down and get yourself some nice relaxing music in the background, have the music turned down low so that the sound doesn’t distract you whilst you are meditating.
Try not to allow people to come into the room whilst you are meditating, ask them to wait. Most mediation states will only last around 20 minutes, unless you want to drift off for longer. Also remember that meditation is a form of sleep, if you are tired or very relaxed you might actually fall asleep for a few hours, this wont do you any harm. Sleep is the bodies way of saying you need to take some time out and rest. We all lead very busy lives and we find it difficult to fit everything into our busy schedules.
During meditation, always be specific and clear of what you expect. Why are you meditating? Are you trying to connect with Spirit, or our Higher Self? Do you have questions that you need spirit to help you with?. When I work with spirit I always try to put myself in there position, look at what would you want to know and what can you actually help with.
I personally believe that there are 3 kinds of mediation that people need to under,
- meditating for yourself, and your own questions.
- meditation for a private sitting, or to get answers for someone else.
- meditating to bond with spirit, letting spirit get to know you and also how you want them to work with you and you with them.
As I said earlier, we need to remember that mediation is purely a sleep state. If we are tired we will fall asleep, this is a sign that more rest is needed.
Why not try using candles or a small indoor fountain whilst meditating. This will create a nice atmosphere around you and will also help you to drift deeper into your altered state.
