What’s Love Got To Do With It?

When you hear the word LOVE, does it make your heart melt or have you running for the hills? For some, love can be a scary feeling especially if they were raised in an environment where love was not displayed or said. Allowing yourself to feel the feelings of love can be an enlightening experience.
When we pour our heart out in gratitude we are showing our love and appreciation for something. So when we display our love each and every day by doing the things that make us feel joy and purpose we live a life of love. Taking the time to recognize our feelings and move up the emotional scale to a place of true contentment and love can sometimes seems daunting. But once we get there we feel inspired to live our lives from that peace.
Sometimes people feel that love has a price tag. That if we give too much or love too much that you will “owe” them. Love is unconditional. What do you do to show love? We cannot feel love and hate at the same time. We can feel it alternatively but we can only choose one feeling at a time. We all do things that feel good, that we love to do, or else we wouldn’t do them.
Here are a couple tools to help you “feel” the love. When we feel love we also end up living happier lives therefore alot of the same tools for happiness can be the same for sharing and living a life of love.
- Gratitude Journal: Keeping track of all the things in our life –big and small- that we are thankful for, we start to realize the “good” and happy things that are happening on a daily basis. If you start by writing out just 5 things every night and then moving that up to a few more items every week. You will learn to appreciate and LOVE everything in your life which makes you happier also.
- Affirmations: Taking control of your thoughts and bringing them back to a place of contentment is one way that you will be able to show self-love which in turn will rub off into the rest of your life. When we take what we are thinking and turn it around into a positive sentence will make things show up in your life that you never would have thought were possible. When you state: I’m in the process of…..” and finish with what you want from your life and repeat that over and over again you will find pure contentment. You can use this when trying to find the perfect mate, and any other thing in your life! Try it out and you will notice a shift in your thinking. When you notice yourself drifting back to a negative place, start saying the affirmation again and again.
Having a love for others is important but having a love for yourself is ultimate. When we feel true love and satisfaction with ourselves we can then be able to show others wholeheartedly our love towards them. You are the only one that you can depend on to love yourself so why would you want to sabotage that? We are all unique and loveable no matter what has happened in your past. Take control of your thinking today and give yourself the love you deserve. Once you begin to do that, others will take notice and will show and tell you just how important you are in their lives!

I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT, BUT DO YOU?

What have you done in your life that you are proud of? Are you passionate about what you are contributing to this world? What would you do if given the choice of following your passion and living your life on purpose and just living on this earth?
Having self confidence can mean the difference between living on purpose and just simply being. Going out and pushing past our fears to become the person that we want to and achieve our goals in life. Life is full of fears and conquests but how we handle them is usually how we feel our life is perceived. Instead of pushing through your conquests, can we simply go around them? Make the choice to step aside from the ongoing path of destruction and push past our fears and turn them into achievements.
Having the self confidence in ourselves to know that we can achieve our goals and mission in life and to not care what other people think about what we are doing and just be ourselves. Going out into this world and just being ourselves, shows a lot more courage than putting on another face so that people will “accept” us and to be popular.
Having our own opinions and showing we are grateful for what life have to offer us can make our time on this earth peaceful and loving. Now when I say “having our own opinions” I do not mean forcefully making our opinion known to whoever will listen. It is to have the courage to speak about how we feel about a particular situation. As we all know, everyone has different opinions and opinions are just different perceptions of what we have lived and our beliefs.
Our beliefs are just our habits that we have done over and over again, and that is what we base our perception on. So of course, everyone has different life experiences, therefore, have different perceptions. What we need is to put that to good use to achieve the life we wish to accomplish. From a quote I have heard “What the mind can perceive it can achieve!”
I know you can do anything you put your mind to, but do you?

Minimize Stress=Maximize Life!

“STRESS” now there is a word that most people can relate to. There seems to be an massive amount of people with this “stress” in their life. Whether it be from home or work it is always there. What we in society need to know is how to get relief from this “stress”. Is your life balanced? Do you spend more time at work than at home?
These days the pressure that is put on us is tremendous. Moms and dads have to feel like they are “supermen and women” to uphold this image that society has put on us. Everything has to be perfect…..climbing the ladder at work and have everything in order and be flawless, then go home and have everything spotless, supper made, kids homework done, head off to activities, be home to have family time, get things ready for the next day and then the cycle starts all over again. This can only go on for so long before something happens, either to the family life, work life or health.
We need to take a step back and look at reality and how we can work things into our life that will help be physically and emotionally available. What are your expectations? Are they realistic? After all, we are only human. Are you making time in your schedule to relax and do all the things that you are passionate about? What about quality time with your family? There will always be some sort of stress in our lives there is no getting out of that but it’s how we manage it that makes it easier to deal with. Here are some tips to balance your life and handle stress.
The first thing is to have a plan. Ya that’s right, a PLAN. Plan your days, weeks, months. Have goals and a plan to achieve them. Schedule in time for family, friends, relaxation, and work. Talk to your family to see when the best time to get together with them will be and work the rest around that. But remember to be flexible. If you need to do work at home, you won’t be so focused on that, you will already have a plan and can enjoy the quality time with your family. You need to be there fully. If you need more one on one time with your spouse, schedule that in too and DO NOT cancel.
Talk to your family about how and when you would like to Implement the PLAN. Remember to do things you love to do, whether it is going for a walk, bike ride, reading, playing tennis. Don’t forget the alone time. If you can’t manage your time, you will never have enough of it. So sit down with a pencil and paper, gather your thoughts, talk to your family, set your goals and make a PLAN.
Dealing with stress and be stressful in itself. There are many ways to relief your stress and I will give you a few. Pick which ones you like and use them.
Relax with visualization.
Calm your mind and think of a peaceful place where you would like to be or a certain time when you felt at peace. Remember that time, what it felt like, what you were / are wearing, the smells around you, what you were doing. Go to that tranquil place where you are at peace. Sit in a quiet place, close your eyes, breathe slowly and visualize.
De-stress in a soothing bath.
Climb into a warm bath , listening to soothing music and just relax! Enjoy this time to yourself.
Dance!
Don’t want to listen to slow, quiet music? Turn up the music and dance. Act silly, sing, laugh, jump around.
Exercise
Go out for a walk, bike ride or any type of exercise that relieves the stress for you.
Watch the way you think
Think of all the positive things you have in your life and be grateful for them. Write them all down and re-read them. Change your thoughts from negative to positive.
Get some Sleep!
Make sure you are getting your zzzzz’s. Go to be a bit earlier usual. The next day you will feel refreshed and ready to start the day.
Just remember, only you can control the way stress affects you and you can manage the long terms effects. Take the time NOW to control it and manage it. Your family needs you and if you are physically and emotionally unavailable the only damage is to yourself.
Life is your’s to live! Enjoy it and live it to the fullest!

EMPOWERING THE “YOU” WITHIN

Take a look around you. What do you see? Do you see a life filled with happiness, joy, abundance? Now take a look within. What do you see? Does it match the outside? I bet it does. Life is full of ups and downs, happy times and sad but what goes on in our head and heart is what is going on around you. The way you think about yourself and the world is what you will have in it. You and only you can bring changes and happiness into your life. You need to be the one to take control. If you don’t, than who will? We are here to enjoy the life we have, we only get ONE! Only one chance to do the things we want to do and to accomplish. There’s no time for self-pity and self-loathing. Let’s make the best of what you have and what you can offer this world. Everyone has something great to give.
Here are some tips to positive thinking to empower the “you” within:
1. Focus on the positive and not the negative.
If you only focus on things that you don’t want, guess what, that is what you will get. Concentrate on all of the things/people/feelings/circumstances that you wish to happen. You are going to be thinking anyway, why not think in a way to help instead on hinder. If you ask someone not to think of something what do you think they will do? Of course, they will automatically think of it. Example: “Do not think of a red elephant?” I bet you just thought of a red elephant. Word your thoughts in a way to think positive. Instead of “Don’t slam the door!” say “Close the door quietly!” A good indicator is the way you feel. Try to stay in that “good feeling” place, and if you are not there, think of things that make you feel good and happy to get you back there. It takes practice but before you know it you will quickly get and stay with your “good feelings”.
2. Find your passion and purpose.
What do you love to do? What gives you the most pleasure and not feel like working? You have a purpose in this life, we all do. What is yours? Make a list of all the times you have felt great joy and alive? When the list is complete. Answer: What are my strengths? What brings me great joy? What am I passionate about? Is there anything that I can do today to help me come closer to feeling that joy and passion every day?
3. Finding you life’s goals.
Take a look at all the areas in your life. ( personal, career/education, relationships, health & body, recreation, financial, contribution) What do you want to improve? Where do you want to go? Make a list of all your dreams and dream BIG. It might seem out of this world but as long as you reach for stars you won’t come out empty handed. You deserve it, go ahead REACH!!!
What can you do today to start to reach your first and most important goal? Take little steps and soon enough before you know it. You will have achieved it.
Here are a few but important tools to help you along the way. By doing these daily it will help keep you on track and focused on what you want in your life and not get sidetracked by all the negativity. When that does happen, realize it, accept it, change your focus to a positive aspect that you want in your life and FEEL the positive emotions that go with that.
1. Affirmations
This is a powerful tool that will help re-program your subconscious mind to know and believe what you are saying is true. Your thoughts and words affirm who you think you are and how you are perceived to be. By changing your thoughts and words you are affirming it as your own personal truth. Example: “I am prosperous and everything comes easily to me.”
2. Visualization
Close your eyes and go over in your mind all that you wish to do/be/accomplish. Visualize what you would like to have happen and to attract to your life. Whether it be a certain type of person, relationship, job, house, car. This can also be used if you have a problem that you want to solve and have it go your way. Go over every single word, action that you wish to have happen in that scenario. YOU map out your life by your thoughts, so why not make the most of it and plan what you want.
3. Attitude of Gratitude
Be grateful daily for everything that you do have, whether it’s an old house, beat up car…no matter what it is. If you are grateful for what you do have you will appreciate more of what you have coming. Being negative sets us up for more of the same. I’m sure you know what it’s like being around people who are always angry, complaining about something, upset, whining. They are not pleasant to be around. Is that how you want to be remembered? You are not responsible for their behaviour, you are only responsible for yours. As long as you are in control of yours and have a positive,
gracious attitude you will notice that things in life just seem to happen much easier, you’ll have no reason to be upset and angry because life is treating you good! Every night make a list in a journal of all the things that you are grateful for. You will soon realize how great life really is and what you have and you will receive more joy and happiness.
Now all you have to do is take action and BELIEVE. Have the belief in yourself that you accomplish anything you set your mind to, achieve goals that you previously never thought was possible. Take the time everyday to make sure you are on course with what you want your life to be. You’ll start noticing little things. When you do, take note of them and after the first month, read what you wrote and see all the POSITIVE things happening for you. Even if it is just getting the parking spot you envisioned, a free coffee, or meeting up with someone you wanted to see. Only YOU can do it. So set out to enjoy your life, believe you can do it and empower the “YOU” within!

What is Holding You Back?

Have you ever stopped to realize what it is that you really want to do and accomplish in your life? Many of us are so busy with our demanding active lives that we do not take the time to sit back and see if we are on track with what we really want. Moving forward and making the choice to follow our passion and dreams, can be quite daunting but have you ever thought of the alternative?
What would happen if you lived your life on someone else’s terms by not accomplish the goals that you wish to accomplish, always live in a dream land and not take the action to see those dreams come to fruition, be unfulfilled and unhappy with your life, have a job that you can’t bear to go to every day, always walk around with a chip on your shoulder? That does not sound like a life that I would wish to live, how about you?
Life is not meant to be hard, unhappy, uneventful, unfulfilling. Life is what you make of it! Sitting back and watching your life go by and not knowing your purpose or what makes you happy will not get you the happiness and satisfaction you wish and deserve. As the saying goes, “Life is what happens when you sit there watching”. Why not make good use of your time and life? You only get ONE chance!
Most people do not take the time for change and self reflection, they use the excuse of a “hectic” day but the underlying reason behind it, is that seems to be a very scary place to look and think about. Fear is what holds them back. Are you taking that time? When you push past your fear and know that you are safe and secure to go to that place of self-knowing and understanding, you will finally take your life by the horns and make the decisions that are for your benefit. Nobody else can do this for you. You are not your title, you are a person that has a lot of love to give and receive. Life is meant to be lived in a forward motion, not backward. Your past is where it is supposed to be, learn from your past events, situations, lessons and shift forward~ one step at a time.
Are you ready to face your fears and jump with two feet in to find out who you are authentically? What is it that you really want out of life? Who are you REALLY? Make time today to think about YOU!
