The start of our days is one of the most sacred times that we have. If we choose to treat it as such….
Tomorrow morning try to not jump right out of bed, but stay in bed for at least 5 minutes and notice what your mind is doing.
Notice your thoughts. Notice what your mind is focusing on. Notice the feelings that what your mind is focusing on is bringing up inside you. Do you like those feelings? Do they make you feel peaceful, happy, energetic, relieved or other good feelings? If they do, then keep it going and continue to have those thoughts and really feel those good feelings deeply and fully for at least 5 mins before you get out of the bed and start your day.
If instead, you do not like the feelings and they are making you feel anxiety, stress, worry, fear or other negative feelings, I want you to stop. Breathe… Breathe deeply… and breathe deeply again… Then make another choice. Choose to feel good. And in that moment begin to scan your mind or your environment for things to feel good about; like how you love your bed, how it feels good to have a bed to sleep in, how your head feels so good on the pillow, how your room is filled with great things that bring you joy etc… Or how much you love your family, how much you love your pets, what joy you get from spending time with your loved ones, how much fun it is to laugh, how beautiful the weather is, or so many other things. Once you start to get to those thoughts, then feel them. I mean really feel them. Once you have stayed in your bed for at least 5 mins feeling those good feelings, then and only then allow yourself to get out of bed and start your day.
Who knows it may become a habit and you may actually mean it when you say:
