Painting of Life

I drew a picture of my past

The canvas filled with dreams

People, places things I’d known

No spaces in between

When completed I stepped back

And viewed the good and bad

All the joys and errors made

Some which made me sad

I grasped an air brush in my hand

I’d make the errors fade

So I could hold my head up high

Removing foolish ways

But as I worked upon the scene

The image was restored

As quickly as I wiped them out

They took their place once more

I realized that what we are

Is mirrored from the past

Mistakes I made along the way

A lesson that will last
