I don't know why people are falling for this film so effortlessly - it's like all the film buffs love this movie the way people in general go gaga for Avatar :( . This movie, while better than something like Avatar, is just a little too pish-pish -- so self-indulgent in its search for designer moments of clarity, all of it predictable - er, predicted as it is viewed. I LOVE Julianne Moore and think Colin Firth simmers with sexiness in general so I tend to be favorably biased when it comes to their films. Odd, that I didn't like this one. Maybe I should've read the book first.

But if you would like to see a film that centers on moments of clarity - check out A Serious Man, which I saw the week after this film. A Serious Man - the most amazing movie I've seen in years, years....
