How do we stay motivated to care for our bodies and move them in loving ways daily? There are so many distractions. There are so many things calling out for our attention. How do we stay focused on our own daily movement when there is so much to do?
We have many “good” excuses. One excuse is that we are busy caring for others. We put off our own needs in order to care for those around us. It sounds like a perfectly good excuse – you don’t have time for you. But in truth, the more we move our bodies, the more strength and clarity we have for ourselves – and for others too. Movement is a win-win. It is a loving thing you can do for yourself. Movement expands us, expands our energy. We have more to give.
Other excuses – like lack of time, lack of ability, anxiety, and expectations. Those are not helpful either. If it matters, you will do it. Our excuses become our blocks in this way. Our excuses become more important than our own well-being. We can choose to make our own care a priority. We can choose to make ourselves a priority. Remember that the more love and care we give ourselves, the more we will have to give to others.
Movement is not a part of the problem. Movement is a part of the solution. As long as we see movement as a problem and meet it with excuses, it will not matter and we will not do it. If you are resisting movement today, find a different way of looking at it. Get into a different head space. Change your attitude.
Work around your blocks – your excuses. Find some inspiration. You can ask a friend to take a walk with you, or put on your favorite music and dance like crazy. The more you enjoy the activity and movement, the more you will want to do it. And the more you will stay motivated to do it.
Sometimes we just have to push through. Just get up and move even when we do not want to. In fact, it is in those moments that can we show ourselves that we can be our own source of support. Stay focused on showing up every single time you tell yourself you will. Support yourself.
If you are feeling dense, heavy emotions about movement, the best possible way to heal and release them is to get up and move. Shake out all those dense emotions – feel them, then let them flow. Movement is a great way to work out dense emotions. You are consciously combining your spirit and your body to work it out. It is a wonderful way to stay in your flow and not get stuck in negative cycles.
Once you get started, and stick with movement daily, shift will happen. You will realize that you really can do this. You will understand that movement is not work – it is actually fun. And you will see that movement is a loving and supportive activity. You will also see that love and energy spill out into the rest of your life and everyone in it. Just let movement be what it is – fun.
