Imagine being ok with whatever is happening – to want what life wants.
Wanting what life wants means to be present to whatever is happening not as a victim or a survivor but with ease and grace.
Wanting what life wants means to accept what is possible and what is not possible without anger or bitterness.
Wanting what life wants means trusting the greater unfolding and plan that we are often not aware of.
Wanting what life wants means you are not afraid to rock the boat as you follow the inner impulse.
Life is waiting to come through all of us. We are here at this amazing time in history for a reason and we are being guided toward the reason day by day. Allow yourself to stay open to the plan of the universe and allow magic to happen.
At the same time we must also guide our destiny while allowing the Divine to propel us forward. I like the image of being at the rudder of my ship. I am guiding its direction from own deep desire and impulse. I just open the sail, catch the wind and point it in the direction I think I want to go. The Divine is the wind or the current of grace that propels me forward. I may have to go a toward C before I get to B but I trust the journey and the current that is carrying me. I use to think I had to stand on the deck and blow on sail – that I had to control everything or make everything happen. Imagine how tiring (and boring) blowing on a sail would be but many people are trying to do just this. We do not have to control or create every little happening. We just have to open ourselves up.
There is a simple story that illustrates the magic of the Divine plan.
When Ian and I went to Mexico a couple of years ago we did not have a plan – meaning we knew where we wanted to go sort of but we had no reservations anywhere. We literally arrived in Puerto Vallarta, rented a jeep and started driving – all at a time when Canadians were being advised not to travel. I knew I wanted to surf in Sayulita but people told the town was completely sold out. We went anyway as I felt really called to it. As we are standing in front of a sold out hotel asking the woman in our bad Spanish if there was another place to stay a man approached us and said we could rent part of his house. It was amazing. We had a whole floor with an outdoor kitchen looking out to the sea for $40 a day. We also had a chance to meet his family and make connections with local people that were magical. And all this found us. We pointed the ship and the wind took hold.
No major life change happened. No major discovery or lucrative connection but it is a moment in time that I completely felt the Divine grace come in to take care of us and carry us. We gave over to it and it was one of the best travel experiences of our life so far.
Are you over-planning it? Over-thinking it? Over-doing it? Are you blowing on the sail?
Is there room for magic and grace in your life?
Can you be present to what life wants for you now?
This is why we do our Yoga practice – to become strong enough to want what life wants. To feel grounded, resilient AND open and free at the same time. To practice on and off the mat what Patanjali calls Sthira and Suhkam – steadiness and sweetness. So get on that mat and practice allowing the Divine to flow through you as you trust your own inner guidance.
Next week I will talk about what we do with the storms and rain clouds that come our way AND still stay in grace.
Wishing you a week of magic.
