Wow! Over the past few days I have been swamped with calls and emails concerning the newly revealed 13TH sign of the Zodiac. Everyone is freaking out because it is like being told that you are adopted and so begins a search for your true identity. Let’s look at this clearly and realistically before we all decide to ditch our zodiac mugs, remove our celestial tattoos or get into blog talk debates over the astrological signs.
There are a number of astrologers who want to stick strictly with the 12 sign Western Astrology concept along with the Vedic or Eastern Astrologers who prefer their methods of casting someone’s birth chart, also not to mention the Chinese Zodiac system. Sit tight because there are more types of astrology and astrological house systems then there are flavors of Baskin Robbins Ice Cream but to keep things simple for the lay person who reads their daily horoscope the traditional 12 sign system is the one that we embrace.
In a previous article that I wrote on September 8,2010 I explained how our calendar used to be based on 13 lunar months until Julius Caesar changed it. The sign of Ophiuchus (of-ee-yoo-kuh-s) which is a a large constellation located northwest of the center of the Milky Way, symbolized by the snake charmer, twisted serpent or possibly our DNA was pushed out of the astrology wheel because it is a sign of short ascension. It is very fitting that this sign should make a return appearance now at the time of our shift and ascension into a more evolved being. Resist if you will but our planet, Earth, is in a different vantage point within the Milky Way Galaxy. We are closer to the center and pulling in a different frequency so to speak. Many of you may have noticed that time as we know it even seems to be flying by; reason being that we are moving from three dimensional consciousness (time/space/cause and affect paradigm) into the realm of space time where time is not limited to 24 hours on a clock. Time will become relative to our higher frequency and ability to manifest thoughts into things. The change in the zodiac signs will be taking a back seat once we change the clock to fit in with our new ascension concept of a full day.
Some astrologers say that the planets put out the vibrations that give the sign their unique characteristics but in antiquity the astrologers knew that it was the fixed stars in the heavens that would portend to bring about ones disposition and destiny. A lot of modern astrologers dismiss the use of the fixed stars because it is too much information for the average horoscope reader to digest. The signs of the zodiac are constellations of stars. Each sign was given it’s designated planetary ruler and that has even changed from days gone by since the addition of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto were put back into the mix after years of people seeing the limits of the solar system as Saturn. Pisces use to have Jupiter as a ruler and Aquarius shared Saturn as a ruling planet with Capricorn before Uranus popped into the picture as the ruler of the water bearer, Aquarius. Some signs even share ruling planets, for example Taurus and Libra share Venus; and Virgo and Gemini share Mercury so what’s the big deal about a 13Th sign for the zodiac. Even the asteroid Chiron has been swept under the celestial rug because it might screw up some astrologers charts or books. Times are changing and shifting. The planet is moving, the constellations are shifting the poles are shifting so why is everyone freaking out over the 13th sign becoming part of our ascension into a new energy that brings with it a new astrology sign?
As we begin to shift, the qualities imparted on our individual signs are also going through a transformation. I am a Pisces but I will welcome the attributes of Aquarius into my new cosmic DNA. It will give me the opportunity to express my natural Piscean healing energy in a more Aquarian manner by using the Internet and new methods of communication which by the way are very Aquarian. Why can’t we become astrological hybrids?
A lot of speculation has been given as to what planet will rule Ophiuchus. I kind of like the ruler-ship going to our 10Th planet, Nibiru, of which we are just beginning to find out about, but Chiron may now get its permanent planet status as the healing planet if awarded to the sign of Ophiuchus. A lot of knowledge about who we are, where we came from and where we are headed has been kept secret from us for ages. The time is ripe to embrace all of the new changes and information now made available to us in the Aquarian age (or is it still the age of Pisces? That debate rolls on too) because we are evolving. Evolution of a species doesn’t stop because we don’t like change and everything is changing because it if didn’t change it would become stagnant and die.
The heavens have shifted to once again reveal this 13th sign of the zodiac that was familiar to our ancient astrologers, physicians and astronomers and it is this sign that will help us bridge our evolution into becoming the next stage of man. We are now merging our body, mind and spirit into one unit. We are a trinity. A winning trifecta able to heal ourselves from past karma and get rid of dis-ease as we become more comfortable with our new awakened state. The energy from this rediscovered constellation, Ophiuchus, is ready to shine some energy on us and help us make the transition and shift in consciousness necessary to heal ourselves and our planet. Ophiuchus is associated with restoring life to the dead , healing, awakening and seeking light. Isn’t this what we are doing now as we ascend within the cosmos?
Finding Ophiuchus once again is like finding a rare antique or a missing link because we now have the bridge we need to help us understand our evolution into the up-graded species of man on a new earth so to speak. We are being reborn in a sense and awakened to our true spiritual gifts. Marcus Manilius (fl. 1st century AD) , a Roman astrologer and author of five books called Astronomica , recognized Ophiuchus and the fixed stars within that constellation therefore putting to rest the belief that early sky watchers didn’t give any weight to this very important “old” new find in the sky. You can read some accurate and interesting facts about Ophiuchus at: www.constellationsofwords.com/Constellations/Ophiuchus.html
Hopefully some of my peers won’t be so staunch and inflexible when it comes to welcoming the new kid on the cosmic block. We all needed a change anyway and the addition of Ophiuchus gives astrologers another dimension to work with as we ascend into our next phase of consciousness.
Maybe the name Ophiuchus is a little bit of a mouth full so let’s just call our new addition the Snake Charmer.
